Effects of Oxidative Treatments on Biomethane Potential of Solid Olive Residues

Abstract As energy systems transition toward renewable resources, anaerobic digestion (AD) is actually receiving growing attention. AD relies on biochemical methane potential (BMP) tests to determine the of by-products carbonious nature. This investigation aims understand how an oxidative treatment, like Fenton reaction, influences BMP, starting from solid residues olive oil production, coming two-phase extraction (TPES). We compared two different pomaces (with and without stones), both TPES. The treatment here proposed able produce three effects in employed matrices: improving speed BMP decreasing bacteriostatic effect phenols, reducing H 2 S content produced biogas (precipitating it as FeS) enhancing production first four weeks test.
